That’s ^^^ what last Sunday was like^^^.
When I was asked to provide first aid and injury treatment at a woman’s rugby match.
It was absolute carnage and one girl collapsed but I will get to that bit in a minute.
It was something I had done in the past many times for MEN’S rugby and soccer matches.
One time I also helped the Welsh under 16 girls soccer team on a development day.
But I had never done it for a women’s rugby team.
Here is a pic of the girls, who are all pretty much beginners.
I wasn’t afraid – honest ;-).
I arrived at the club and the flags on the pitch were bent over sideways from the wind and it was chucking it down.
The girls played 30 mins the first half and it was called off after 10 mins of the second half because the weather was so bad.
Everyone was on their way back to the changing rooms when it happened.
One of the visiting team’s girls collapsed with hypothermia.
The first thing I knew about it was when about 6 muddy girls were carrying her, with arms and legs flailing, into the changing rooms shouting “get her in the shower”.
Which may seem logical, but is totally the wrong thing to do.
I shouted at the top of my voice, NO STOP.
I quickly explained to the 6 or so well meaning friends (panic merchants) what we needed to do.
My first suggestion, with reflection, could have been worded a bit better.
“Strip her off”, I said without thinking.
Which was technically right, but wrong in other ways.
Her friends kinda closed ranks around her for a second and one gave me a look, that only a woman can give.
I continued, “Get her into some dry clothes and warm her torso up“.
“A cup of sweet tea would be good too“.
Next thing we had about 10 dry towels and two cups of tea, a coffee a Mars and some Haribos.
An ambulance was also called but wasn’t needed in the end.
She made a good recovery.
She was much better in 20 mins or so.
Her friends thanked me for taking charge.
Since then I have had a chance to reflect.
And am now able to laugh at the craziness of the situation, it really did get outa hand for a minute.
Here is what I realised and how it relates to your unwanted lard.

If that girl had ended up in the hot shower, she probably wouldn’t of died as she was fit, but it would have potentially made things a lot worse.
Knee jerk reactions.
And panicking
Don’t help.
There is a right way and a wrong way to sort these things out.
It’s a similar feeling I get from people who decide it’s “time” to get fit and healthy or whatever.
They want to do it quickly and are in the biggest of panics.
And in their panic to lose weight they make lots of knee jerk decisions which lead them nowhere fast and can even set them back in the long run.
It’s not to say the wrong way won’t lead you somewhere, eventually, but the right approach gets you to the RIGHT place and gets you there faster.
