I have had a bit of bad news last week.
Q: If you take the GP out of You, Me & The GP, what do you get?
A: You and me up the swany .
But seriously.
The radio show has to finish.
I put SO much into making it great but we have recorded our last episode.
Just as it was getting really popular too.
As is often the case in life, these things come out of nowhere.
I know its a bit sudden but it wasn’t my decision.
The Doc was doing the show to help his business. He gave it a year and the business wasn’t doing very well and he finished it, so basically he had to cancel his insurance and that was the end of the show.
The Doc said the insurance costs were too much to keep going, just for the show. That’s the trouble when people do stuff for free it can finish at anytime.
Am I gutted about the show yes of course – very much so.
At these times I just try to take the positives.
What’s positive about this?
Was it a great experience and a great show, yes. 60 episodes are still up and they will be staying there for the foreseeable future.
I already have another idea for a new podcast but I’m gonna take some time and not rush into anything.
It’s not a real problem. It doesn’t have any real implications for life, or business.
It was something I did for fun and if I’m honest for myself.
I would have never got to spend so much time with a GP working on people’s problems together.
It’s been a unique experience and I feel a lot more confident in my ability to help people. I know that what I’m doing and thinking with regard my decisions for my clients is always along the right lines.
I always know when to refer to a fellow professional.
Also we did something no one else has ever done, and people loved it, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Plus I now have time to work on some other things, watch this space.

PS – Here is the final episode of the podcast, it’s like two episodes in one really, its nearly an hour, we gave our best answers as it was a great show to finish on.

Hi Rich
really sad to hear the show is stopping- I really enjoyed listening to the episodes and learnt some interesting things. Why was it so expensive to run?
I’m a young GP working in London and I think its great for people to be health conscious and proactive and I am always interested in new research and practical solutions. Obviously there are limits in what a GP can achieve regarding health and most of healthcare come from patients themselves so this is fabulous. I try to practice what I preach.
I don’t always agree with everything your Doc says- some of his ideas are quite non traditional for Uk medicine- but I am fascinated to listen to his ideas and listen out for tips that can help my patients.
best wishes for the future, I hope you manage to continue to podcast.
Ros
Hi Rosie,
Glad you enjoyed the show. The big costs are for insurance, plus you have the marketing, website updates, graphics/priniting, hosting, admin time, SEO….i could go on ;-). I bore the brunt of these costs but alas it wasn’t my decision in the end.
Its great to hear you get something from it as a young GP, i do hope you dont end up being a legal drug dealer like most other GP’s lol! Keep it natural and drug free when possible.
Thanks for your kind message,
Rich X
