Ok sweet cheeks, get a load of this . . .
A couple of weeks ago one of my lovely ladies stood in front of me and confidently said:
“I’m doing everything right, and I’m not losing weight”.
She went on to have a little whine about how she felt like she did everything she was supposed to, exercise, eating right, but she wasn’t seeing the results she wanted, she didn’t think she would ever get there, and from now on, she was just going to accept that’s just the way it was.
To me at least, it seemed sad and as if she was giving up, and accepting there was no more she could do.
Firstly, with all due respect, not many people are doing EVERYTHING right, all of the time, myself included.
There is usually more we can do, if we yearn for better results.
And lets say, even if she was doing everything right, I’m not just going to take her word for it.
Oh no no no, what do you think? I’m crazy.
I have come to learn that when one of my lovely ladies says stuff like that, they then want me to offer some sort of magical explanation as to why they are not losing any weight, I think it’s a silly “guessing” game to play.
I have a system to deal with this drama and have developed a checklist to help me figure out “why you’re not losing weight”.
For example, I wanna see some hard proof, a food diary at the very least.
But with this lady, none of that was needed.
So I said:
“What about the four months you had off when you moved house, and you gained 21lbs because you were stressed and came off your diet?”
Her reply: “Oh yes, I forgot about that”.
I also berated her a little, and said I thought she was being unrealistic, and that I didn’t think she should just “accept” her current situation for a second and there was plenty she could do.
Tough love, maybe.
But since my “intervention” (a.k.a. a chat) the lady in question has lost 11lbs and feels much better about the world.
(I find it bizarre how she had a couple of good months sticking to the plan and then has totally forgotten about the four bad months she had when she moved house).
Why am I telling you this? because sometimes you need an outsider to point out something simple, yet vitally important, which you may have missed.
